Blackjack

Blackjack

Blackjack is a game of strategy that pits you against the dealer. You need to score closer to 21 points without going over.

At the beginning of the game the player and the dealer both receive two cards. You can see both of your cards, but can only see one of the dealer's cards.

Take a hit and hope the next card pushes you closer to 21, but doesn't send you over the top - or stand with the cards you have and hope that they will be enough to beat the dealer.

Or dare to double down for that big payout. You might even get lucky and automatically win with Blackjack!

European Blackjack

European Blackjack

The goal of European Blackjack is also to score closer to 21 points without going over.

At European Blackjack the dealer must stand on any total of 17 or more and hits on any total of 16 or less.

The player can only double once in European Blackjack with hard values of 9-11.

Super 21

Super 21

Super 21 is a high-flying variety of blackjack with special payouts that are anything but mild-mannered.

Super 21 offers payouts on multi-card 21's, five-card 21's, six-card 21's, and on the game's signature hand, a Diamond Blackjack.

If you have nerves of steel, keep hitting and win instantly with a six-card hand. You can double down once on your original hand, surrender at any time, and in some situations you can even split your hand.

The dealer hits on soft 17 and player blackjacks always win!

Fancy Yourself a Blackjack Pro?

Blackjack is one of the all-time great games - also here at Intertops Casino!  The idea is so simple that anyone can learn the basics in a matter of minutes.  The key aspect of blackjack that determines most of the game’s strategy is that players go first and have to stay at 21 points or less in order to be able to win.

If you go over 21, you lose automatically.

Nuances of Blackjack

The game developed over the decades to include many nuances or strategy moves that greatly enhanced players’ ability to win money in the long term.  Here is a short list:

  • The dealer has to hit with 16 points or less.  This means that the dealer will very often hit with a point count that most players would not hit on!
  • Players can double down with point counts that give then a good chance for 20-21 points.  In some games you can double down with any point count.  When you double down, you get only one card.
  • You can split pairs or ten-point cards.  In some variations of blackjack, you can split again if you get another pair.
  • In some varieties of blackjack, if you think that the chances are high that you’ll lose, you can surrender and lose only half of your bet.
  • If the dealer is showing an ace, you can buy insurance to protect your bet against the dealer getting 21 points.

So Many Rules Mean So Many Variations

There are many variations of blackjack and each has its own unique way of defining the nuances.  For example, we offer Super-21 which has special bonuses for getting 21 with five or six cards or blackjack with the red diamonds.

So, in order to play Super-21 well, you need to know the rules very well and we suggest that you play the game for a while in our unlimited free play mode.  When you feel confident, you’ll be ready to play for real money!

We also offer classic blackjack and European Blackjack.  The main difference in the two games is whether the dealer hits with a soft 17—a six and an ace—and when you can double down.  In European Blackjack, you can double down only with point counts of 9, 10, or 11 points.

Study the Game for Best Results

With good strategy, you can get very close to a 100% return to player rate.  You can play blackjack for hours and either win some or lose some.

Studying blackjack is the key.  For example, many players always stand when they have 12 points or more.  While it is good strategy to stand with 16 points, it is not always good strategy to stand with 12 or 13 points.

Here it all depends on what the dealer’s up card is.  You can print a strategy card for every variation and make yourself almost unbeatable in the long run.

When to Employ One of the Nuances

Let’s say that you have two ten point cards.  Should you split these cards?  Well, every strategy card will say not to split these cards because you already have the second best point count!  But if you have a pair of nines—just one number less per card—it is almost always correct to split those cards.

First of all, 18 points is not as strong a hand as many think it is and, second, by splitting, you give yourself a good chance to get 19 points at least once!

Doubling down is another subtlety that players need to master for best results.  Everyone knows that they should double down with 11 points but how about 10 points or 9 points?
